Hotel Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Burj al-Arab "Arab Tower" is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Burj al-Arab building, designed by Tom Wright, reaches a height of 321 meters and is the tallest building entirely used as a hotel. This building stands on an artificial island 280 m offshore in the Persian Gulf. Burj al-Arab is owned by Jumeirah.
The hotel frequently called as a seven rate star hotel. This is considered a hyperbole by people in tourism. It is also seen as a way to "beat" other hotels that call it a six star hotel. Unfortunately, almost all hotel ranking systems in the world have a limit of five stars. According to the Burj al-Arab official website, the hotel is a "five star deluxe hotel".
Construction on the Burj al-Arab began in 1994 and opened to visitors on December 1, 1999. Its design takes the form of a dhow screen. Close to the peak is a helipad and the restaurant Al Muntaha, which means Highest in Arabic, on the opposite side which is held by a cantilever over the sea. One of the unique elements is the atrium wall facing the beach; made of fiberglass cloth coated with Teflon. The interior was designed by Khuan Chew.
The Burj al-Arab also has the highest lobby atrium in the world, at 180 meters high. The atrium can cover the 38-story Dubai World Trade Center Building, the tallest building in Dubai from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s.
Before entering the Burj Al Arab property area, guests must first go through a guarded bridge. The Burj Al Arab also has the world's tallest tennis court which also functions as a helipad.
